FINDING A NEW SOFTWARE!

Image
As the editor for our group, it's also my job to find new apps that'll not only benefit the group but make editing a lot more easier and enjoyable, and so after some talking with our media teacher, I've come to the conclusion that I'll be using 'Davinci Resolve' as the new app for editing instead of 'adobe premiere'. Keeping in mind that Davinci has everything from color-grading to sound-editing all in one app, it'll prove to save more time and hence allow me to finish editing within a proper deadline.

DAY 2 OF; LEARNING HOW TO EDIT!

Image
( 08/11/24 ) In today's media class, we looked at the 2nd timeline, which we learned is best when it comes to making our film into a reel, or for using different formats. We also learned how to add an adjustment layer to our first timeline and create cinematic bars. We also touched the topic of sound distortion and how to adjust it accordingly. DAY 1 OF; LEARNING HOW TO EDIT!

Image
TODAY, 07/11/24, we learnt the basics of editing, through a new program called 'DaVinci Resolve.' In today's class, we tackled the basics of editing; how to import videos/clips and audios, trim and cut, using shortcuts and the features provided in our program. We also worked on keyframes; learning how to do zooms, rotates and cropping. Incorporating the lessons learned in class today, I also worked and used DaVinci at home to get a better feeling and understanding of the new program. [ KEYFRAMES AND TIMELINE ]

PLANNING OUR BUDGET!

Image
Today, my group members and I, during the time we were all collectively free, worked on our film's budget. The budget for our film is incredibly crucial, as since we are still teenagers and college students, we can't place too high of budget in case we're unable to afford it. We also had to take transport and food costs into mind, whilst also budgeting for costumes and equipment. Our budget in general will have the following things in it; 1. Transport. 2. Food; for our actors and those working on the set. 3. Dress/costumes; for each character. 4. Equipment; including lens, and a possible microphone. This whole experience, although fun, taught us the benefits of having a tighter control on our story and character, teaching us budget is not the only thing that creates or breaks a film. It also taught us what it means to be close as a group, as we learn to appreciate all of our roles in the film.

PLANNING OUR SET!

Image
Planning for our set is an incredibly important moment with pre-production, as it ensures we can manage our time efficiently, we get a better view of how we want to take our film, and allows the production to run smoothly and let us stay on schedule.   Fortunately, our film will be taking place within one of the group members home, we'll be utilizing her room, alleyway and balcony, all of which are when key and important moments will be. ISO, SS AND LENS EXERCISES!

Image
Today, 07.11.24, in order to sharpen my own abilities, took pictures of the closest objects next to me using the 'pro-mode' on my phone. Messing with the ISO, shutter-speed and lens of it, to get a better feel of not only how to take decent quality photos, but rather figure out the secrets of photo-taking from just my own phone. 1. ISO                                         [ HIGH ISO  ]                                        [ LOW ISO ] 2. SHOTS/ANGLES EXERCISES!

Image
A few days ago, me and my group members took pictures in different angles. The reason for this is so that we can learn how to direct our viewer's attention to the element we need as well as emphasize details, which will help us in making our film. We all focused on three specific types of angles that are needed within our own film. 1. WIDE ANGLE / WORM-LEVEL 2. WAIST-SHOT 3. HEAD-SHOT 4. EYE-LEVEL
